Principal’s Message

Welcome to Virginia Randolph Education Center

We are the home to exceptional students we call Rams and home to an amazing staff who we call “Legacy Bearers!”  Together we are a community we call #RamNation.   At VREC we are very proud of the legacy of our founder Miss Virginia Randolph.  Miss Randolph was a revolutionary educator during the late 18 and early 1900’s and believed in “educating the hands, the eyes, the feet and the soul.” It is upon this great educator’s foundation that we continue her Legacy by providing opportunities for our students to achieve success.  To read more about our great founder please go to this article: https://richmondmagazine.com/news/richmond-history/educator-virginia-estelle-randolph/.

Our students experience a smaller campus, smaller class sizes, a Social Emotional Support team, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), classrooms with at least one teacher and an Instructional Assistant, field trips, clubs and much more.

Our Campus wide theme this year is:

VREC Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower students to become active and positive participants in their communities and provide them with relevant, diverse instruction and real-life learning and experiences.  As a part of this empowerment we assist students in strengthening social, behavioral and self-advocacy skills.

VREC Goal Statement

The ultimate goal of the program is to provide students intensive structure and support and equip them with strategies needed for social, self-advocacy and behavioral improvement. In collaboration with parents, communities and home schools we help students develop functional, positive outcomes while being supported in their least restrictive environment.

We are so thankful for our students and the opportunity to prepare them for their futures!  Our academic focus is on the success of all children through the practices of professional development, data analysis, effective planning, collaboration, prevention-oriented practices, shared best practices, progress monitoring, and student engagement. Through these efforts, we will all improve upon our practices….as well as improve outcomes for all of our AMAZING students!

VREC families, we need and welcome your support and cooperation. Along with your support of our efforts, we are committed to reviewing our current practices and developing new procedures in an effort to foster an optimal teaching and learning environment for all. We thank you for your continued support. I am available via email at etarmbru@henrico.k12.va.us and phone 804-261-5085. We look forward to a wonderful and AMAZING school year for our students!
